Crochet Horseshoe Applique

This crochet Horseshoe applique is about 5″ (13 cm) tall.

Yarn

For the Horseshoe appliques, I used medium weight #4 yarn

For the Shamrocks, I used cotton crochet thread size 10, color 

You are welcome to experiment with different yarn weight to achieve different sizes of your appliques.

Hooks:

For the Horseshoe applique: US size h/8 (5 mm) crochet hook

For the Shamrocks: US size 6/1.8 mm crochet hook

Instructions:

Row 1. Ch 40, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next 11 Chs, 2 SC in next, SC in next 6, 2 SC in next, SC in next 6, 2 SC in next, SC in next 12. Total – 42 SC. Turn.

Row 2. Ch 1 (doesn’t counts as a stitch), SC in first St, *SC in next 2, Ch 2, skip 2 next*, repeat from * to * two more times, SC in next 3, 2 SC in next, SC in next 8, 2 SC in next, SC in next 3, **Ch 2, skip 2 next, SC in next 2**, repeat from ** to ** two more times, SC in last. Total – 32 SC and 6 Ch-2 spaces. Turn.

Row 3 (decorative edge). Ch 1, Sl St in first St, Ch 1, *Sl St in next St, Ch 1; repeat from * around. Work into Ch-2 spaces: [Sl St in Ch-2 space, Ch 1] – twice. Fasten off.

Finishing:

1. Block all the pieces as necessary.

2. Sew Shamrock or Lucky Clover appliques onto the Horseshoe.
