  • 4 mm Odyssey hook
  • Tapestry needle and sharp scissors

Pattern notes

The pattern is written using UK terminology, for a conversion chart to US terminology.

The squares are worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each round and you continue working in the same direction as before.

For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row.

Special stitches

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Fpdtr – front post double treble

Mc – magic circle

Tr – treble

Ss – slip stitch

Start each new round either with a standing tr or join with an ss and 3 chain, which counts as the first tr in the sequence.

Foundation: Use hint of silver.

Ch 4 and join with ss.

Round 1: ch 3 (counts as 1st tr), 2tr, ch 3. *3tr, ch 3. From * 3 times. Join with ss and fasten off

Round 2: Use sage. (3tr, ch 3, 3tr). 4 times. Join with ss and fasten off.

Round 3: Use hint of silver. (3tr, ch 3, 3tr) into any corner ch-3-sp, then into the gap between the two groups of 3tr, work tr, fpdtr into central stitch of 3tr group in round 1, tr. 4 times. Join with ss and fasten off.

Round 4: Use pale rose/palma violet. (3tr, ch 3, 3tr) into any corner ch-3-sp, then into the gap between the two groups of 3tr, *work tr, fpdtr into central stitch of 3tr group in round 2, tr. From * accross into every gap between groups of 3 stitches. 4 times. Join with ss and fasten off.

Round 5: Use hint of silver. As round 4.

Round 6: Use raspberry/violet. As round 4.

Round 7: Use hint of silver. As round 4.

Round 8: Use sage. As round 4.

Round 9: Use hint of silver. As round 4. But do not fasten off.

Round 10: Ss to next corner. (3dc) into corner ch-3-sp, dc into every stitch across. 4 times. Fasten off.
