3″ [8 cm] length of 5/8″ [1.6 cm] sew-on Velcro®

Sewing thread to match yarn

She’ll know she’s the princess of your heart when you crown her with her very own tiara. Adorned with beads, adjustable fastenings make it comfortable for her delicate highness to wear.

Gauge/Tension: GAUGE: 13 sts = 4″ [10 cm]; 18 rows = 4¼” [11 cm] in sc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Crown measures 4” [10 cm] high and will fit up to 20” [50 cm] circumference.

Special Abbreviations

sc2tog = draw up a loop in next 2 sts, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Bead-picot = ch 1, slide bead up to hook, ch 1, enclosing bead, ch 1, insert hook under front loop and vertical bar of last sc, pull yarn through all loops.

CROWN

Ch 72.

Row 1 (Wrong Side): Sc in 2nd ch and each ch across; turn – 71 sc.

Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.

Row 4: Slip st in 26 sc, ch 1, sc2tog in same and next sc, sc in next 18 sc, sc2tog; turn leaving remaining sts unworked – 20 sc.

Rows 5-12: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 sc, sc across to last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc; turn – 4 sc at end of Row 12.

Row 13: Ch 1, [sc2tog over next 2 sc] twice; turn – 2 sc.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc2tog – 1 sc.

Fasten off.

Edging

Place marker in tip of point; starting at marker, place a marker every 1½” [4 cm] along both sides of triangle and along top of band. String beads onto yarn with yarn needle.

Row 1: With right side facing, join yarn with slip st to first slip st of Row 4, ch 1, * sc evenly to next marker, sc in marked st, bead-picot **; repeat from * to point of triangle, (2 sc, bead-picot, sc) all in point; repeat from * to end of band, end at **; sc to end of band.

Fasten off

FINISHING

Weave in ends. Using sew-on Velcro strips, sewing needle, and thread to match yarn, stitch a 3” [8 cm] strip of Velcro to each end of band, facing each other, to close back of crown.
