Materials:

  • Cotton size 3 yarn (2 strands held together)
  • Size I, 5.5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Embroidery floss (optional for sewing on magnetic clasp)
  • 15 mm magnetic snaps (optional)
  • Sewing needle (optional)

Gauge:

6 sts x 7 rows = 2″ square

Note:

Pattern:

Ch 21

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hk and each ch across, turn (20).

Rows 2-20: Ch 1 sc in each st across, turn (20).

Row 21: Switch to white yarn, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (20).

Row 22: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 16 sts, sc2tog, turn (18).

Row 23: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 14 sts, sc2tog, turn (16).

Row 24: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 12 sts, sc2tog, turn (14).

Row 25: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 10 sts, sc2tog, turn (12).

Row 26: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 8 sts, sc2tog, turn (10).

Row 27: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 6 sts, sc2tog, turn (8).

Row 28: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 4 sts, sc2tog, turn (6).

Row 29: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 2 sts, sc2tog, turn (4).

Row 29: Ch 1, sc in each st across (4).

Continue to sc evenly around the entire piece with 2 sc in each corner.

Sl st in first st and fasten off, weave in ends.

With black yarn pick up a st on the top corner before the decreases (flap) and sc evenly along the flap to the other corner.

Sl st in the last st and fasten off, weave in ends.

Fold the bottom part in half so it folded up right under the fold (where the color changes to white).

With white yarn and tapestry needle, sew up both sides and fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Closure (optional):

Sew on the magnetic clap on the front of the case with embroidery floss and sewing needle.

Fasten off.
