Size: Easy Skill

Size: Egg & Duck – about 3½” tall

Materials: Sport Weight Yarn

Small amounts of the following: White (W); Yellow (Y); Orange (O)

Additional Materials: Yarn needle; Hot/Craft Glue, 15 mm Moveable Eyes (1)

Crochet Hook:Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 9 sts = 2 inches; 5 rows = 2 inches

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, dc in next 2 sts, yo and pull through 3 loops on hook.

BACK EGG

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at bottom, with W, ch 7; 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in last ch. (8 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, dc in first dc, (dc in next dc) across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. (10 dc)

Rows 3-6: Ch 2, turn, (dc in next dc) across. (10 dc)

Rows 7-9: Ch 2, turn, dc dec, (dc in next dc) across to last 2 dc, dc dec. (8, 6, 4 dc)

DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging: With right side facing, ch 1, sl st evenly around entire Egg. Finish off and weave in ends.

FRONT EGG – HALF SHELL

Rows 1-3: Rep Rows 1-3 of Back Egg.

Row 4: Ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, skip first dc of Row 3, sl st in next dc, * ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, skip next dc, sl st in next dc; rep from * across. Finish off leaving long end.

DUCK

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Y, ch 6; dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, 2 dc in last ch. (6 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc now and through-out), turn, dc in first dc, (dc in next dc) across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. (8 dc)

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, (dc in next dc) across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. (9 dc)

Row 4: (Tail) Ch 3, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, skip first dc of Row 3, sl st in next dc; sl st in next 3 dc, (Head) (sl st, ch 2, dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Leave rem dc unworked.

Row 5: Ch 2, turn, dc in next 3 dc (of Head), hdc in last dc. (5 sts) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging: With right side facing, ch 1, sl st evenly around entire Duck. Finish off and weave in ends.

WING

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at base, with Y, ch 3, 2 dc in first ch (skipped ch counts as first dc). (3 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2, turn, (dc in next dc) across. DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging: With right side facing, ch 1, sl st evenly around entire Wing. Finish off leaving long end.

BEAK

With right side of Duck facing, join O with sl st to outer edge of Head (between Rows 4 & 5 on right), ch 3, (sl st, ch 4, sl st) in same sp as joining.

Finish off and weave in ends.

FEET

With right side of Duck facing, working in foundation chain, join O with sl st to first ch, (ch 4, sl st in next foundation ch) twice. Finish off and weave in ends.

Finishing USE PHOTO AS A GUIDE

Duck – Sew (or Glue) Wing and 7mm Eye to Duck.

Egg – Using long end, sew Front Half Shell to Back Egg, leaving opening. Tuck Duck into pocket.
