CROCHET HOOK

I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

GAUGE: 14 sc and 18 rows to 4”/10 cm

INSTRUCTIONS

  2. A hat is worked in continuous rounds from top to bottom.
  3. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to size you’re making.
  4. To avoid mistake(s), count stitches in each round, or row when finished.

HAT

Notes: Work in continuous rounds without joining. Place a marker in first st of first rnd and move up each rnd.

Rnd 1: With smaller hook, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook – 6 sts.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts.

Rnd 3: 2 sc in each st around – 24 sts.

Rnd 4: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 36 sts.

Rnd 5: Sc in each st around – 36 sts.

Rnd 6: *Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around – 48 sts.

Rnd 7: Sc in each st around – 48 sts.

Rnd 8: *Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around – 60 sts.

Rnd 9: Sc in each st around – 60 sts.

Rnd 10: *Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around – 72 sts.

For size Adult only

Rnd 11: *Sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around – 81 sts.

For All sizes

Next Rnd: Sc in each sc around – 72 (81) sts.

Rep last rnd until hat measures 8.75” (10.25”) from beg;

Band

Rnds 1- 2: BPsc around post of each st around – 72 (81) sts.

Rnd 3: BPsc around post of each st around; join with sl st to next BPsc – 72 (81) sts.

Fasten off. Secure yarn to WS.
