Materials:
- Medium 4 weight yarn (97% acrylic, 3% other fiber for sparkle, color: Sweet Violets)
- 5 mm crochet hook (recommended 5.5 mm for the yarn, but using a 5 mm for gauge)
Instructions:
Base Hexagon:
Start with a Slip Knot:
Wrap the yarn around your hook and chain 6.
Form a ring by slip stitching into the first chain.
First Round:
Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet).
Double crochet into the ring.
Repeat for a total of 3 double crochets.
Chain 1.
Repeat the sequence of 3 double crochets and chain 1 until you have 6 groups of 3 double crochets and 6 chain spaces.
Slip stitch into the top of the chain 2 to close the round.
Second Round:
Slip stitch to the first chain space.
Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet).
In the same chain space, work: 2 double crochets, chain 1, 3 double crochets (creating the corner).
In the next chain space, work: 3 double crochets (side).
Completing the Round:
Continue with the pattern: in each corner space, work 3 double crochets, chain 1, 3 double crochets.
In each side space (between corners), work 3 double crochets.
End the round with a slip stitch into the top of the starting chain 2.
Subsequent Rounds:
Continue the same pattern. In each new round, add 3 double crochets in each side space and work the corners the same way (3 double crochets, chain 1, 3 double crochets into the chain-1 space of the previous round).
Shape the Sleeve and Body:
For the sleeve: Continue working rounds until the desired sleeve length is reached.
Decrease the sleeve: Alternate rows of 3 double crochets and 2 double crochets in clusters for a few rows to taper the sleeve.
Work regular granny clusters and eventually switch to clusters of 2 double crochets for about 8 more rows.
Joining and Working the Body:
Join the Top of the Shoulder:
Fold the shoulder and join by pulling through corresponding back loops from each side.
Working the Sleeve:
Attach new yarn for the sleeve and work as previously done.
Extending the Body:
To increase the size for the bust, work in rows back and forth from the top to the bottom.
Continue adding rows until the desired width is achieved
Working Both Sides:
Ensure both sides are even and meet in the center back.
Finishing the Collar and Edging:
Work double crochet rows for the collar.
Slip stitch the edge for a clean finish.
For the bottom edge, work a row of half double crochets.
Finish with slip stitches all around the bottom edge.
Adjustments for Size:
Lengthen by adding more rows at the bottom.
Widen by making additional back and forth rows or more edging rows.
Final Touches:
Lay flat to dry.
Block if necessary.
