For Row 3:

Chain one, and make two double crochets into each of the previous five double crochets.

Chain one, skip a space and one stitch.

Finish the row.

Row 4:

Stop one stitch before the space.

Chain one, and make a V-stitch in the center of the space.

Slip stitch on the fourth stitch from the ten double crochets.

Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one, double crochet in the next one, and slip stitch next to the last double crochet.

Chain one, skip stitches, and make another V-stitch in the space.


Row 5:

Stop one stitch before the space.

Chain one, and make five double crochets into the V-stitch.

Chain one.

Slip stitch in the chain from the previous row, chain one, and make another five double crochets.

Finish with chain one, skip a space and one stitch, and make a double crochet.


Subsequent Rows:

Repeat the pattern, creating ten double crochets (two in each of the five stitches) and linking them with chain ones.

Create three V-stitches to start increasing the fan stitch.
