With Main Color, ch 25 and sl st in the very first ch to make a loop.

Ch 9. Skip 1st st and sc in each st across. (8 sc) Ch 1 and turn.

*Sc evenly across. (8 sc) Ch 1 and turn. Repeat from * for another 6 rows, until there is an 8 st x 8 row square. For the Rainbow version, change color after every 2 rows. Break yarn and weave in ends.

With Contrast Color, join with a sl st just to the left of the loop. Sc evenly around the square, working 8 sc in each side and a ch2 in each corner.

When you come to the loop, work a sl st in each ch st.

Break yarn and use the seamless finishing technique to join to the first sc of the edging Weave in ends

Add an initial, buttons, patch, whatever you like! I added the letters by just making a long chain and then using the ends to sew it into place.
