Materials:

  • US — J, 6.0 mm — Furls
  • 116 yds Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie or Lily Sugar'n Cream (100% cotton; 4/Medium/UK 10-12 ply)
  • Colorways shown: Blissful and Ocean (1 ball per bib)
  • Stitch Markers
  • Large Button (¾") or Velcro
  • Coats Thread
  • Sewing Needle
  • Optional: Clover Desk Needle Threader

Gauge: 18 sts (scs and chs) x 16 rows = 4" in moss stitch

Size: 11.5" x 11.5" laid flat, sized to fit 6-18mths

NOTE: Place a stitch marker in the ch-2 or ch-3 that begins each row so it's easier to find on the next row.


INSTRUCTIONS:

Row 1: Ch 7, skip the 2 chs closest to the hook, *sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st; rep from * to last ch, (sc, ch 1, sc) in last ch; turn. (4 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3, skip next sc, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * across, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp; turn. (5 sc)

Row 3 — 28: Ch 3, skip next sc, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * across, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-3 sp; turn. (31 sc)

Row 29 (and button loop): Ch 3, skip next sc, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * across, (sc, hdc) in ch-3 sp; ch 6 or as needed for button, turn, sl st in first ch. (31 sc, 1 hdc, 1 ch-6 loop)

Row 30: Ch 2, skip 1st 2 sts, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * across until 2 sts remain, sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in ch-3 sp; turn. (31 sc)

Row 31 — 57: Ch 2, skip 1st 2 sts, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * across until 2 sts remain, sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in ch-2 sp; turn. (4 sc) Do NOT turn after Row 57.

Edging:

Ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp as last st, *ch 1, skip next row, sc in next ch sp,^ rep from * to ch-6 loop, 8 sc in ch-6 loop, sc in side of next row, sc in next ch sp, rep from * to ^ across to first row, sc in side of first row, [ch 1, sc in next ch sp] twice, rep * to ^ across to last row, working 2 sc in corner (Row 29) ch sp; ch 1, break yarn and invisible join to ch 1 at the start of edging rnd.

Finishing:

Sew button to corner opposite ch-6 loop, or sew Velcro to both corners.
