Materials:

  • Crochet hook – L / 8MM
  • Yarn: Bulky (6) Acrylic – 20- 30 oz. depending on size.
  • I used Caron cake Anniversary yarn, Blue Berry Bash
  • Yarn Needle

  • Slip Stitch (slst)
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
  • Space (sp)
  • Slip (sk)

Sizes:

The poncho has 3 sizes, This poncho is meant to be big,

comfortable and roomy

Size 1 — XS/S – 21 inch neck opening

Size 2 – M/ L – 25 inch neck opening

Size 3 – Xl/ 2 XL – 27inch neck Opening

3 chs = 1 inch

Each Row is about 1 inch

Poncho is Written for Size 1, (with Size 2 and 3 in parenthesis)


Notes:

  • Ch 3 Counts as dc
  • Rows are joined to the ch3 with a slst


Pattern:

R: 1 – FDC 66 (72, 78)

Join in a circle, ch3, not to twist.

With Your needle and tail of yarn Close The gap.

R: 2 – 2 dc, ch2, 3dc in the 1st dc, ch2,*sk the 2 dc, 3 dc in the next dc, ch2 *Repeat from * to * 9, 10, 11 More times,Sk 2 dc, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1 in the next dc,Repeat From * to * 10, 11, 12 more times, join,Slst to the next ch2 sp.(2 sets of 3dc, ch2, 3dc and 20, 22, 24 sets of 3 dc)

Which will get you a 20 inch long poncho

Continue to repeat if a longer poncho is desired.

After your last row, Ch1 instead of ch3 after you slst to the ch2 sp

R: 20 – Trim -

3 sc in the ch2 sp, *1 sc in each dc, ch 2 at the ch2 sp*

Repeat From * to * till you reach the corner,

In the 3 sc ch 2 sp at the poncho point,

Repeat From * to * to the 1st corner, join to the 1st sc,

tie off and weave in your ends.

Tie: With 2 strands of yarn, loosely ch 150 chs.

tie off each end with a knot.

Lace through R: 1 and tir in front.

Tassel: Make 2

Cut 2 pieces of yarn 10- 12 inches long- set aside.

Loosely wrap 2 strands of yarn around your hand 25 to 30 times.

Cut.

Put one piece of the yarn through the loops.

Tie the other piece around about 1n inch from the top.

Attach to the ends of the tie.
