Instructions

Step 1: Flower Power Motifs

You’ll need to make 12 motifs in total using three different colors. Each motif begins in the center with a chain and builds outward in rounds, switching colors as you go.

Begin with Color 1

Round 1: Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), make 9 dc in the ring. Join to top of ch-3 to complete the round. (10 dc total). Fasten off Color 1.

Switch to Color 2

Round 2: Join Color 2. Ch 3, dc in the same sp as sl st. Make 2 dc in each dc around. Join to top of ch-3. (20 dc total).

Continue with Color 2

Round 3: Sl st into next dc, then (ch 3, tr) in the same st. 3 tr in next dc, (tr, dc) in the following dc, sl st in next dc. Repeat around, joining with a sl st to top of ch-3 to complete. Fasten off Color 2.

Switch to Color 3

Round 4: Join Color 3 in the first dc of Round 3. Ch 3, 1 dc in next tr, 1 hdc in next tr, 1 sc in next tr, 1 hdc in next tr, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 tr in dc of Round 2. Repeat this pattern around to complete the petals. Join and fasten off Color 3.

Step 2: Join the Motifs

Use a Flat Slip Stitch (sl st) method to join the motifs into a strip for the scarf.

Place two motifs WS together, align the corners.

Join MC in any corner ch-3 sp of the first motif.

Ch 2, sc in corner ch-3 sp of the next motif, ch 2, skip next hdc, sc in next hdc of the first motif.

Repeat from * until motifs are joined across one edge, then fasten off.

Step 3: Wide Edging (Left Side)

With RS facing, join MC in top left corner of the scarf.

Ch 2, hdc in the same space.

Work 18 hdc evenly across each motif along the long edge of the scarf, 2 sc in each joining ch-2 space.

Turn and repeat rows until the edging measures about 4″ (10 cm).

Step 4: Narrow Edging (Right Side)

Repeat the wide edging steps along the opposite edge, making sure it measures about 4″ (10 cm) as well.

Step 5: Top and Bottom Edging

Top Edge: Join MC in the top right corner, work 30 sc evenly across the short edge, then fasten off.

Bottom Edge: Repeat the same for the bottom edge.

Final Round: Ch 1, and working from left to right (reverse sc), sc around the entire edge of the scarf for a clean finish.

Corner Flowers (Make 4)

Add decorative flowers to each corner using leftover yarn.

Round 1: Ch 4, sl st to form a ring, ch 1.

Work petals by chaining 5 and completing 4 yohs for each petal.

Attach to each corner of the scarf.

Finishing Touches

Weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle.

Block the scarf if needed to achieve the final shape and size.

Helpful Tips

Managing Colors: Since each motif uses multiple colors, keep your yarn organized to avoid tangling. Try using yarn bobbins if needed.

Adjusting Size: Feel free to make additional motifs or adjust the length of the scarf by adding or subtracting rows from the edging.

This Flower Power Scarf is sure to be a stunning and cheerful addition to your crochet collection. Enjoy making this colorful statement piece!
