Scissors

Large Button (1 1/2”)

Abbreviations:

ch = chain

hdc = half double crochet

blo = back loop only

sl st = slip stitch

st = stitch

Pattern Notes:

Gauge is not important with this pattern

Chain 2 at beginning of row does not count as a stitch

Stitches are all worked in the back loops only

Approximate finished size: 34” x 11” (before seaming together and adding the chains)

Row 1: Ch 32, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across to end. Turn (30)

Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st), working in blo, hdc in same st and in each st across to end. Turn (30)

Repeat row 2 to desired size. I finished my cowl at row 55. Fasten off.

Using tapestry needle, seam the ends of the cowl together using desired method — I used the mattress seam. This will keep the join invisible.

Attach yarn to the bottom of the cowl at the end of any row.

Ch 10, sl st into the end of the next row, *ch 10, sl st into the end of the next row* repeat between * * to end, sl st into the first st.

Fasten off.

Chain flower:

*Ch 20, sl st in 1st ch* repeat between * * 10 times. Fasten off. With embroidery thread, sew button to middle of flower. Sew to top of cowl where desired. Tack down chains around button to keep the chains from flopping down over the button while wearing.

Weave in all ends.
