Joining Sqaures

With tapestry needle and white cotton, sew 4 squares tog, with white portion of each square at center and shaded pink on outer edge, to make 4 diamond motifs of 4 squares each.

Diamond Motif Edging

Rnd 1: Attach white in any corner of a white diamond section, ch 1, *sc in corner, [ch 3, sc in next sk st on edge of white section] 11 times, ch 3, rep from * around, join in beg sc, fasten off.

With shaded pinks, sew 4 diamond motifs tog.

Flower Motif

Make 4

Rnd 1 (RS): With maize, leaving a length at beg, ch 4, join to form a ring, working over ring and rem beg length, ch 1, 15 sc in ring, join in beg sc, draw through a lp of mid rose, fasten off maize.

Rnd 2 (RS): *Sl st in each of next 3 sc, ch 6, sk 2 chs, 11 dc in next ch, join in 2nd ch of skipped ch-2 at beg of petal, working around edge of petal, 2 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st, 2 dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in top of last dc made, 2 dc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, 2 sc in each of next 4 sts, with 1 sl st, join to both first sc of petal and to sl st at base of ch, rep from * for 4 more petals, fasten off.

Pull beg rem length of maize to draw center opening closed, secure at back of flower.

Leaves

Rnd 1: Attach mid rose to center back of any flower petal, *ch 5, sl st to center back of next petal, rep from * 4 times, ending with sl st in base of beg ch-5, draw through a lp of medium celery, fasten off mid rose. (5 ch-5 sps)

Sew a flower to center of each diamond motif.

Rnd 2: Sl st into corner ch sp, ch 3, [dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in corner sp, *dc in each dc across edge to next corner sp **, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in corner sp, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (376 dc)
