Items required

  • 3mm (11) hook. If you don’t have a 3mm hook use a 3.25mm (D) hook instead.
  • 4ply Black Chenille (if you don’t have chenille use any yarn of the same thickness), the pattern will probably will work for most yarn sizes but the size of the bag will be adjusted.
  • Stitch marker
  • Wool needle

Guidelines

  • At the end of each round just carry on.
  • Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
  • HK — hook
  • CH — chain
  • SS – Slip Stitch
  • SC – Single crochet
  • DC – Double crochet

Gauge

9 sts & 8 rows = 2”

If your bag is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.

  • 21.5cm (8 ½”) – wide
  • 13cm (5”) high


Clutch Bag

4ply Chenille Black & 3mm hook

Ch 51

Row 1) 1 sc I 2nd ch from hk, 49 sc, ch 1, turn

Row 2) *1 sc, 1 dc* x 25 across, ch 1, turn

Row 3) 50 sc, ch 2, turn

Row 4) *1 dc, 1 sc* x 25 across, ch 1 turn

Row 5) 50 sc, ch 1, turn

Row 6 – 33) Repeat rows 2 -5 till you get to row 33 (7 times)

Fold the bottom over so that you have enough at the top for the flap.

Sew through both sides to join the sides. I ss down and back up again so it’s strong enough, finish.

Attach the yarn on the other side and ss through both side to join.

You can then add your choice of fastener.
