Crochet a Cute Chenille Teddy Bear — Easy Pattern & Tips
Crocheting a little teddy bear is a heartwarming and quick project that makes a lovely handmade gift. This pattern uses plush chenille-style yarn and a simple combination of single crochet, bobble stitches and basic shaping to create a soft, cuddly bear — no complicated seaming required. Below you’ll find materials, tips and the full easy pattern to make your own small teddy.

Materials
- Thick chenille or plush yarn (we used the discontinued Marriner Get Cozy brand) — ideally two colours: one for the body and one for the muzzle.
- Crochet hook to match yarn weight — we used a 7 mm hook.
- Safety eyes sized to match your yarn thickness and a tapestry (yarn) needle for sewing and embroidering the nose.
- Plush toy stuffing — recycled pillow or cushion stuffing works well.
Tips before you start
- Because the yarn is plush, stitches can be harder to see — work slowly and count often.
- The bobble stitch is used here to form arms and legs that join seamlessly to the body — no sewing on required. If you prefer, you can make simple tubes and sew them on instead.
- Place safety eyes between rows 4 and 5 of the body, five stitches apart (as noted below) before stuffing.
