DIY Crochet Hair Wrap: Easy Boho Kerchief & Tie-Back Tutorial
Create a simple, boho-inspired crochet hair wrap that can be worn as a kerchief, bandana or tied into a knot behind a bun. This quick, beginner-friendly project uses less than one skein of yarn and a G/6 (4.25 mm) hook—great for festivals, casual days out, or adding a pop of color to your everyday look.
Crochet hair wraps are a fun accessory to customize: change colors, add beads or charms, or adjust the chain length for a different fit. Below is a straightforward stitch pattern and assembly guide to make a versatile wrap you can fold, wrap, or tie.

Ingredients:
- Crochet Hook >> G/6 — 4.25 mm
- Scissors
- Scrap yarn >> Less than 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft (Hot Pink)
Stitch guide
- SC = single crochet
- HDC = half double crochet
- SS = slip stitch
- ST(S) = stitch(es)
- CH = chain
- YO = yarn over

Pattern
CH 80
Row 1: *DC into the first ST, CH 1, skip 1 ST and DC into the following ST; repeat from * to the end of the row, turn work.
Rows 2–28: *DC into the first ST, CH 1, skip 1 ST and DC into the following ST; repeat from * to the end of the row, turn work.
At the end of Row 28, SS, cut off remaining yarn strand and sew or weave in the edges.

To create the kerchief look: lay the crocheted strip flat. Fold the two long sides toward the center so they meet (as shown in the photo above) to form a triangular/kerchief shape. Keep the piece folded and wrap it around your head.
Tip: After folding, you can fold the tip of the point down to create more of a bandana look. Wrap the crocheted piece around the back of your head so it sits over or around a bun for a secure fit.

Alternative style: Wrap the piece around and tie the ends together to create a knot at the front or back for a different look (see photo below).

Finishing tips: weave in all ends securely. To change the size, increase or decrease the starting chain length and adjust the number of rows until you reach the desired width and length. Add beads or small charms to the ends for extra flair.
