Easy Baby Socks Crochet Pattern

Yarn: #4 worsted weight yarn
Crochet hook: Size I
Gauge: 16 sts = 4 inches

Size: 6-12 months

Pattern instructions:

(make 2)

For the cuff:
Ch 14.Row 1:Working in back bumps of the chain, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (13 sc)
Rows 2–15:Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st across.

Fold the piece in half. Hold Row 1 and Row 15 together with stitches matching.
Row 16:Ch 1, working in back loops only of both thicknesses, sc in each pair of sts across.

Round 1 (right side):Ch 1, working along edge of cuff, work 1 sc in each row end around; do not join, work in continuous rounds (16 sc)
Round 2:Sc in next 16 sts.

For the Heel:

The heel is worked back and forth in rows and the first row you work is a right side row.
Row 1 (right side):Sc in next 3 sts; leave remaining sts unworked.
Rows 2–5:Ch 1, turn, sc in next 6 sts.
Row 6 (wrong side): Ch 1, turn, sc in next 5 sts.
Row 7:Ch 1, turn, sc in next 4 sts.
Row 8:Ch 1, turn, sc in next 4 sts, sc in next st of Row 5.
Row 9 (right side):Ch 1, turn, sc in next 5 sts, sc in next st of Row 6.

Gusset

Work now proceeds in rounds.
Round 1 (right side):Do not turn, work 4 sc evenly spaced along edge of heel, place a marker in the first of these 4 sts for beginning of round, sc in next 10 sts for instep, work 4 sc evenly spaced along edge of heel, sc in next 6 heel sts (24 sts)
Move the beginning of round marker up as each round is worked.
Round 2:Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 9 sts (22

Round 3:Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 9 sts (20 sc)
Round 4:Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 8 sts (18 sc).
Round 5:Sc in next st, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 7 sts (16 sc)

Foot

Round 1: Sc in each st around.
Repeat Round 1 until foot measures about 3 1/4 inches from the back of heel.

Shape Toe

Round 1:*Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; repeat from * around (12 sc)
Round 2: *Sc in next st, sc2tog; repeat from * around (8 sc)
Round 3: *Sc2tog; repeat from * around (4 sc)
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail onto yarn needle and weave through tops of remaining sts to close hole.
