Crochet Heart Coin Purse

WRITTEN PATTERN OF HEART COIN PURSE

I use Patons Grace cotton yarn, weight category light 3 / DK. The color in tutorial is Natural. Crochet hook is 3 mm. My purse measures about 3.5 inches wide and 3 inches tall.

Abbreviations: sc = single crochet sl st = slip stitch ch = chain

PURSE BASE

  • Use sewing needle to add 48 beads on the yarn.
  • Make a magic ring:
  • Round 1 = sc 5 in the ring, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 2 = ch 1, sc 2 in each sc (10 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 3 = ch 1, sc 1 in first sc, sc 2 in next sc, *sc 1 in next sc, sc 2 in next sc, repeat from* (15 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 4 = ch 1, *sc 1 in two sc, sc 2 in third sc, repeat from* (20 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 5 = ch 1, *sc 1 in three sc, sc 2 in fourth sc, repeat from* (25 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 6 = ch 1, *sc 1 in four sc, sc 2 in fifth sc, repeat from* (30 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 7 = ch 1, *sc 1 in five sc, sc 2 in sixth sc, repeat from* (35 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 8 = ch 1, *sc 1 in six sc, sc 2 in seventh sc, repeat from* (40 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 9 = ch 1, *sc 1 in seven sc, sc 2 in eighth sc, repeat from* (45 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 10 = ch 1, *sc 1 in eight sc, sc 2 in ninth sc, repeat from* (50 sc), sl st in 1st sc.

PURSE

  • Round 1 = ch 1, sc in each sc (50 sc), sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 2 = ch 1, sc in 12 sc, pull up loop in 13th sc, move 1st bead next to stich, yarn over and finish sc, sc in next 37 sc, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 3 = ch 1, sc in 11 sc, add 1 bead to each next 3 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 4 = ch 1, sc in 10 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 without bead, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 5 = ch 1, sc in 9 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 3 sc without beads, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 6 = ch 1, sc in 8 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 5 sc without beads, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 7 = ch 1, sc in 7 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 7 sc without beads, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 8 = ch 1, sc in 6 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 9 sc without beads, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 9 = ch 1, sc in 6 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 4 sc, add 1 bead to next sc, sc 1 in each next 4 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 10 = ch 1, sc in 7 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 2 sc, add 1 bead to each next 3 sc, sc 1 in each next 2 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 11 = ch 1, sc in 8 sc, add 1 bead to each next 4 sc, sc 1 in next sc, add 1 bead to each next 4 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Round 12 = ch 1, sc in 9 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc 1 in each next 3 sc, add 1 bead to each next 2 sc, sc in all the rest of stitches, sl st in 1st sc.
  • Rounds 13-16 = ch 1, sc in each sc, sl st in 1st sc. At the end of last round cut off yarn with 40-inch tail for stitching.

ATTACHING FRAME

  • Using the long tail and tapestry needle first insert needle from back to front through 1st st.
  • Place the frame behind last round stitches, insert needle from front to back through 1st st and 1st hole of frame, then insert needle from back to front through 2nd hold of frame and 2nd st, repeat stitches until the last hole on 1st side of frame.
  • Insert needle from front to back through next st, then back to front through next st (=2 stitches in corner).
  • Repeat second side of frame and second corner.
  • Stitch around the frame second time inserting needle in opposite direction = instead of front to back insert needle from back to front through 1st hole and 1st st, then front to back through 2nd st and 2nd hole, etc. Weave in the end.
