Pretty Crochet Baby Bib in Cotton Yarn

The bib is worked in half treble crochet (htc). The ties are worked in double crochet (dc). UK Terminology

Using a 3.5mm hook and DK cotton yarn –

Make a foundation chain of 29 chain stitches

Turn, 1htc in 3rd chain from hook, 1htc in each chain to end, turn (27sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 12htc, 3htc in next st, 13htc, turn (29sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 13htc, 3htc in next st, 14htc, turn (31sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 14htc, 3htc in next st, 15htc, turn (33sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 15htc, 3htc in next st, 16htc, turn (35sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 16htc, 3htc in next st, 17htc, turn (37sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 17htc, 3htc in next st, 18htc, turn (39sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 18htc, 3htc in next st, 19htc, turn (41sts)

Continue in the same manner until 18 rows have been worked – or until the bib is the length required

Add a simple shell border on the lower edge only — or on each side as well as the lower edge

For the ties ~

Re-attach the yarn to the top corner and make a chain of 55 chain stitches

Turn, 1dc in each chain to end, (makes first tie)

Continue across the top of the bib making 1dc in each stitch across to the other top corner

Chain 55 chain stitches

Turn, 1dc in each chain to end of chain, (makes second tie)

Fasten off
