Materials

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

  • 480 grams of Bernat Softee yarn in colour 1
  • 110 grams of Bernat Softee yarn in colour 2
  • An equivalent yarn would be Double Knitting
  • 6.00mm crochet hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 3 + 1.

Using colour 1 make 97ch loosely, (RS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn (96dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 1dc into the fl of the next st, working through both loops work 1dc into each of next 2st, * rpt from * to * to last 2st, work 1dc into fl of next st, 1dc into next st. Turn.

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * tr2tog around the loop of the stitch on the row below, working through both loops work 1dc into each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last loop and dc, work tr2tog around loop of the stitch below, 1dc into dc. Turn. (32tr2tog)

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows in colour sequence as follows:

Twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2, thirty rows in colour 1, twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1.

You should have 54 tr2tog rows worked in all. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Border – (Worked without turning at the end of each row)

Make 3ch, work 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each dc along the top of blanket, 3tr into corner, 1tr into each row end down first side, 3tr into corner, 1tr into each ch along starting chain edge, 3tr into corner, 1tr into each row end up second side of blanket, 1tr into corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.

Second Row – 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * around blanket, working 5tr into corners, work 2tr into last corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Change to colour 2.

Third Row – Rpt Second Row once. Fasten off.

Change to colour 1.

Fourth and Fifth Rows – Rpt Second Row. Fasten off.

6th Row – 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * around blanket, working 3tr into corners, work 2tr into last corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
