Instructions

Rounds 1–2: Create the Flower Center

Round 1 (Yarn A)

Ch 5, join with a sl-st to form a ring.

Ch 3 (counts as dc), ch 3, dc into ring — repeat from * 7 more times (8 dc, 8 ch-3 spaces).

Join with sl-st to top of beginning ch-3.

Break off Yarn A.

Round 2 (Yarn B)

Join in any ch-3 space.

Ch 1, work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) all into the same ch-3 space (petal made).

Repeat in each ch-3 space around (8 petals total).

Join with sl-st to first sc.

Break off Yarn B.


Rounds 3–4: Form the Square

Round 3 (Yarn C)

Join in the center dc at the top of any petal.

Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 5, skip next 4 sts (top of petal), sc in center dc of next petal — Rep around to form 8 ch-5 loops.

Join with sl-st to first sc.

Round 4

Sl-st into the next ch-5 space.

Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same space, ch 2, 3 dc (corner made), ch 1, 3 dc in next sp, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in next sp — Repeat to form 4 corners and 4 sides.

Join with sl-st to top of ch-3.

Break off Yarn C.


Rounds 5–6: Frame the Square

Round 5 (Yarn D)

Join in any ch-2 corner space.

Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same space (corner made).

Work 1 dc in each dc across side.

Repeat [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in each corner.

Join with sl-st.

Break off Yarn D.

Round 6 (Yarn E)

Join in any ch-2 corner space.

Ch 2 (counts as hdc), 1 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc in same space.

Work 1 hdc in each dc across side.

Repeat [2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc] in each corner.

Join with sl-st.

Break off Yarn E.
