DIY Crochet Bow Cozy: Easy Phone Cozy Pattern with a Cute Bow

Add a touch of charm to your everyday items with this simple Crochet Bow Cozy. This quick project turns basic yarn and a hook into a stylish phone (or small jar/mug) cozy that keeps items protected and looks adorable. The pattern below was measured to fit an iPhone—adjust the starting chain and number of rows to fit other devices.

Materials:

• I used Caron Simply Soft (two different colors)
• Crochet hook (I used 5.50 MM hook)
• Crochet sewing needle
• Scissors

Notes before you begin: Measure your phone (or target item) and adjust the starting chain so the finished width comfortably fits around it. The measurements below are what I used for my iPhone.

Body (make 2 panels):

Row 1: Chain 40 (this was measured for an iPhone).

Row 2–30: SC (single crochet) across to the end; slip stitch, tie off and cut.

Make two identical panels (front and back).

Finishing the body:

With both panels completed, work DC (double crochet) evenly around the edges of each panel; slip stitch, knot and cut the yarn.

Place the two pieces together (right sides facing out) and sew the sides and bottom closed with a yarn needle, leaving the top open so the phone can slide in. Sew twice for durability, then slip stitch, knot and cut the yarn.

The Bow:

Row 1: Chain 14.

Row 2–8: SC, changing colors between rows to create a striped effect; slip stitch, knot and cut off.

Work DC around the bow piece, then cut a short length of yarn and wrap it tightly around the center to form the bow shape. Tie and knot the wrapped center piece securely and trim the ends.

Applying the bow:

Sew the finished bow onto the top front of the cozy several times until it is firmly attached. Knot and trim excess yarn.

Final step: Slide your phone into its new cozy and enjoy! If desired, weave in any loose ends and lightly block the cozy to smooth stitches.
