ACCENT BORDER:

Join accent color anywhere near the back of the hat.

Round 1: Chain 1. SC in each stitch around the hat to the button flap. SC evenly along all edges of the flap, making 3 SC at each corner point. Continue working SC back to the starting position. SL ST to join in first stitch.

Round 2: SL ST around the bottom edge of hat only. When the button flap is reached, line up the flap to its final position and slip stitch through both layers to secure the flap in place. Continue working SL STS back to the starting position. Fasten off.

Weave in ends.

With needle and thread, sew buttons along the edge of the top flap through both layers of fabric.
