Materials Needed:

  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape

Steps:

Base Row:

Start with a slip knot.

Chain the length around your stomach. Ensure this fits comfortably; not too tight.

Do a row of single crochets (SC):

Insert the hook into the first chain.

Yarn over, pull through (you now have 2 loops on the hook).

Yarn over, pull through both loops.

Mesh Rows:

Chain 5 to start the mesh row.

Double crochet (DC) in the 3rd stitch:

Yarn over, insert into the stitch.

Yarn over, pull through (you now have 3 loops on the hook).

Yarn over, pull through 2 loops.

Yarn over, pull through the remaining 2 loops.

Chain 2, skip 2 stitches, and double crochet in the 3rd stitch:

Repeat the step above for the entire row.

Continue for the number of mesh rows desired, remembering to chain 5 at the start of each new mesh row.

Transition to Double Crochet:

From the last mesh row, chain 2 to start the double crochet rows.

Turn your work.

Double crochet in each stitch:

Maintain consistent stitch counts to avoid increasing or decreasing the row length.

Continue for the length required.

Making Straps:

Measure the length needed for your shoulders.

Attach yarn with a slip knot to the starting point on the top.

Chain the required length for the strap.

Attach the end of the strap to the other side of the shoulder using a slip stitch.

Repeat for the second shoulder strap.

Back Straps:

Chain the length needed for tying the back.

Weave through the mesh or double crochet rows as desired.

Finishing:

Weaving in Loose Ends:

Use a darning needle or a smaller crochet hook to weave in and hide all the loose ends back into the stitches.

Final Note:

Ensure the top fits you well and adjust the stitches and rows as per your size.

Be creative with the back patterns and strap styles.
