Materials Needed
- 125g of cotton yarn (5 strands)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Bottom of the Bag
Start with a slip knot and chain 30.
Row 1: Skip 1 chain, make half double crochet (hdc) in the next 28 chains. In the last chain, make 4 hdc, then continue with hdc until you reach the first chain. In the last chain, make 3 hdc and join with a slip stitch.
Row 2: Chain 1, increase hdc in the first stitch, make hdc in the next 27 stitches, increase hdc in the next 4 stitches, make hdc for the next 27 stitches, and increase hdc in the last 3 stitches. Join with a slip stitch.
Row 3: Chain 1, make (hdc in first stitch, increase hdc in next stitch) for the first 28 stitches. Continue making hdc in the next 27 stitches, repeat (hdc, increase hdc) for the next 4 times, then finish with hdc for the remaining stitches and slip stitch to join.
Body of the Bag
Row 4: Chain 1, make hdc in each stitch in the back loop only. Join with a slip stitch.
Rows 5-19: Chain 1, make hdc in each stitch across. Join with a slip stitch.
Rows 20-21: Chain 1, make hdc in each stitch across and join with a slip stitch.
Row 22: Chain 1, make double hdc until you reach the stitch marker. Chain 1, skip the marked stitch, and make double hdc for the remaining stitches. Join with a slip stitch.
Rows 23-24: Chain 1, make double hdc in each stitch across and join with a slip stitch.
Strap
Make a chain and join with a slip stitch.
Chain 2, skip 1 chain, and make a single crochet in the first chain.
Turn your work, make a single crochet in this loop.
Turn and repeat this step until the strap measures 36cm.
Attach the strap to the bag’s opening and sew it securely.
Weave in all loose ends.
