H/5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Measuring tape

Width of the scarf is about 11 to 11.5 inches; length is adjustable to preference.

Stitches/abbreviations used:

** — Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] — Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed

ch — chain

st/sts — stitch/stitches

dc — double crochet

Note:

For a custom size make chains in multiples of 8 + 6

Instruction:

Row 1:Ch 46, skip 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, **skip next ch, 2 dc in next ch, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch, skip next ch, dc in next 4 ch** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 2:Ch 3, dc in next 3 ch, **[2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in ch-1 space, skip next 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Repeat row 2 until you reach the desired length.

If you want a straight edge work one final row

Last row: Ch 2, dc in each st across skipping the ch-1 spaces. Cut off yarn and weave in the loose ends.

Tips:

  • To adjust width, start with a foundation chain in multiples of 8 + 6, as noted.
  • If you prefer a firmer or softer drape, choose a different yarn weight or fiber; the pattern will still work with similar-weight yarns and the H/5 mm hook.
  • Weave in ends securely with a yarn needle and consider lightly blocking the finished scarf to even out the stitches.
  • For a straight, neat edge, work the final straight-edge row as written.

Enjoy crocheting your scarf—this repeating motif is perfect for practicing rhythm and producing a lovely textured accessory.
