Making Process
Foundation Row
Starting Chain: Chain up 2.
First Foundation Single Crochet (FSC) Stitch:
Insert your hook into the first stitch, ensuring you grab both the front and back loops.
Pull up a loop to have two loops on your hook.
Yarn over, pull through the first loop (your foundation).
Yarn over again and pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.
This creates your first foundation single crochet stitch.
Repeat the steps to create a total of 107 stitches. This completes the foundation row for your headband.
Row 2: Creating Texture
Chain Up: Chain up 3 and turn your work. (Note: the first stitch is connected to this chain 3, so we don’t count that one.)
Unfinished Double Crochet:
Work into the next two stitches with an unfinished double crochet: Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops.
Repeat the yarn over, insert into the next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, and pull through two loops.
Finish the stitch by yarning over and pulling through the remaining three loops on your hook.
Chain 5: Skip the next stitch.
Repeat the unfinished double crochet pattern into the next three stitches.
Continue the pattern of chain 5, skip a stitch, and work three unfinished double crochets until the last four stitches of the row.
Final Stitches: For the last four stitches, follow the initial pattern then conclude with a regular double crochet in the last stitch.
For Row 3: Adding Spaces
Chain Up: Chain up 3 and turn your work.
Double Crochet: Add a double crochet into the first stitch on top of the previous row’s double crochet.
Chain 2: Do a single crochet into the next space.
Chain 5: Do a single crochet into the base of the next chain 5 from the previous row.
Repeat the pattern of chain 5 and single crochet into the spaces until the end of the row.
Row 4: Archway Detail
Chain Up: Chain up 3 and turn your work.
Place Two Double Crochets into the top of the first double crochet space.
Chain 1, then count up three from the chain of five and place three double crochets into the middle of that arch.
Chain 1 and Repeat the pattern until the end of the row.
Final Row: Completion
Chain Up 1 and turn your work.
Single Crochet into every single stitch down the row.
Finishing Touches
Join Ends: Slip stitch the two ends of the headband together.
Seam the Edges: Single crochet down the sides to seam the two pieces together.
Weave in Ends to neatly finish your headband.
