Materials

Five-strand yarn in white, green, yellow, and any flower accent color

2.5 mm crochet hook (suitable for single-strand usage)

Stitch marker (preferably orange)

Crocheting the Base

Start with white yarn.

Crochet 24 chain stitches to create the base foundation.

Round 1: Single Crochet Foundation

Work into the back loops of the chain:

Crochet 22 single crochets.

Work 3 single crochets in the last stitch to curve around the end.

Continue on the opposite side:

Crochet 21 single crochets.

Work 2 single crochets in the final stitch to complete the round.

Round 2: Medium-Length Stitches

Join the last stitch with the first to form a round.

Pick up only the inner loops to shape the base.

Crochet one round using medium-length stitches, maintaining the stitch count (no increases or decreases).

Round 3: Flower Pattern (White Petals)

Begin the flower design with white yarn.

Use the invisible long stitch method:

Insert a long stitch, then a chain (braid), followed by another long stitch in the same stitch.

Skip three stitches.

Repeat the sequence: (Long stitch, chain, long stitch) in one stitch, skip three stitches around.

Round 4: Flower Pattern (Green Leaves)

Insert hook into the first long stitch of the previous round.

Pull yarn through two times to position in the middle of the 3 skipped stitches from the previous round.

Switch to green yarn.

In the center of the 3 skipped stitches:

Crochet one long stitch, one chain, one long stitch.

Repeat: (Long stitch, chain, long stitch) into the middle of the next 3-skip space around the bag.

Round 5: Flower Pattern (Yellow or Petal Color)

Switch to your chosen flower petal color.

In the green gaps, crochet:

Three long stitches.

One chain stitch.

Repeat: (Three long stitches + one chain) in each green gap around.

Round 6: Flower Pattern (White Base for Next Layer)

Switch back to white yarn.

In the second stitch of the petal round:

Crochet one chain, then a short stitch.

The middle of the petal group:

Crochet one long stitch, one chain, one long stitch.

In the middle of the three stitches of the flower group:

Crochet a short stitch.

Than Repeat this sequence all the way around.

Repeat Flower Pattern Rounds

Repeat rounds of:

Green leaf layer,

Petal color round,

White round with short and long stitches.

Continue the pattern for a total of 11 full flower motif rounds (adjustable for bag height).

Finishing the Bag Opening

Using white yarn:

Crochet two rounds of short stitches for a clean edge.

For the final decorative lace edge:

Crochet one short stitch.

Skip one stitch, work five long stitches in the next stitch.

Skip one stitch, then one short stitch.

Repeat this shell pattern around the edge.

For buttonhole: when 2 flower motifs remain, leave a gap at the center front by skipping stitches to allow for a button.

Crocheting the Strap

Leave a tail for sewing the strap onto the bag.

Make two chain stitches.

Insert hook into the second chain from the hook and crochet one short stitch.

Continue working short stitches in this manner, creating a sturdy I-cord or single-strand strap.

Repeat until the desired strap length is reached.

Sew the ends of the strap securely to each side of the bag.
