Red Heart Super Saver (medium weight; 100% acrylic) 73 yards Navy blue or black (MC), 42 yards each of 5 different colors (CC1-5).
You will need crochet hook size H/8 – 5mm, a yarn needle to weave in ends and 4 bobbins.
Gauge 12sc x 15 rows = 4×4”
This pattern uses US terminology.
Stitches and Terms Used: Single crochet (sc), main color (MC), contrasting color (CC).
Cut 4 lengths of MC 9 yards each. Wind on bobbins and set aside.
With MC, Ch 59, turn.
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each across. Turn. (58)
Row 2: Sc in each across. Turn.
Row 3: Sc in 1st. Sc in 2nd, changing to CC1 on last loop of sc. Drop MC to back of work, do not cut or carry.
*With CC1, sc in each of next 12, changing to MC on last loop of last sc. (Use a bobbin of MC that you set aside at the beginning. Carry CC1)
Sc in next then sc in next changing to CC1 on last loop. Drop MC to back.
Repeat from * to end of row. Do not change to CC1 at end of row. Continue with MC.
Check your work: At the end of this row all bobbins of MC should be joined and spaced out across the row with the main skein sitting at the beginning.
Your row of single crochets should be: 2 MC, 12 CC, 2 MC, 12 CC, 2 MC, 12 CC, 2 MC, 12 CC, 2 MC. Total 58 SC.
Turn.
Row 4 (wrong side): You are looking at the back of your work so when you drop yarn, drop it to the side facing you.
With MC, sc in first 2, with CC sc in next 12.
*With MC sc in next 2, with CC sc in next 12. Repeat from * 2 more times.
With MC, sc in last 2 stitches and turn.
Repeat row 4 until end of row 14. Drop yarn to the back on odd rows and to the front on even rows.
Fasten off CC1.
Rows 15 and 16: Using MC, sc in each across. Use MC from main skein only, not the bobbins.
Rows 17-28: *With MC, sc in first 2. With CC2, sc in each of next 12. Repeat from * across.
With MC, sc in each of last 2 and turn.
Rows 29 and 30: Using MC, sc in each across.
