Instructions:

Step 1: Foundation Chains

Start by making a slip knot.

Chain 80.

Step 2: Row 1

Make a sc in the second ch from the hook.

Continue to make 1 sc in each chain across. (Total 79 sc)

Step 3: Row 2

Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + ch 1).

Skip the next st and work 1 dc in the next st.

Ch 1, skip the next st, and work 1 dc in the next st.

Repeat from * to the end of the row.

Ch 1, skip one st and work 1 dc in the last st.

Step 4: Row 3

Ch 1, turn.

Work 1 sc in the first st.

Work 1 sc in the next ch-1 space.

Continue working 1 sc in each st and each ch-1 space across. (Total 79 sc)

Step 5: Row 4 and 5

Repeat Row 2.

Repeat Row 3.

Step 6: Row 6

Ch 1, turn.

Work 1 sc in each st across. (Total 79 sc)

You will have completed the small border for the shawl with these six rows.

Step 7: Main Body of the Shawl

Ch 3 (counts as first dc).

Work 1 dc in the next 3 stitches.

Ch 3, skip the next 2 sts, work 1 sc in the next st.

Ch 7, skip the next 5 sts, work 1 sc in the next st.

Ch 3, skip the next 2 sts and work 1 dc in the next 4 sts.

Repeat from steps 3-5 across the row. (You should end with 4 dc.)

Step 8: First Row Repeat

Ch 3, turn.

Work 1 dc in the next 3 sts.

Ch 7, work 1 sc in the chain-7 space from the previous row.

Ch 7, work 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc.

Repeat from steps 3-4 across the row.

Step 9: Second Row Repeat

Ch 3, turn.

Repeat Steps 2 to 6 For Border

Repeat the original border pattern from Row 1 to Row 6 on this end.
