Materials

  • Yarn:
  • Material: 100% cotton
  • Crochet hook: 3.5 mm
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
  • Tassel (optional)

Initial Chain

Create a slip knot.

Continue working chains until the length reaches a multiple of 16 plus 4 extra chains. For example, you can chain 64 in total as used in the video.

Chain an additional four chains to complete the initial setup.

1st Row

Setup: Chain one and turn your work.

Skip the first chain space and single crochet in the second chain space.

Pattern Repeat:

Continue to single crochet in each chain down to the end of the row.

Work a single crochet into the very first space at the start of each new row.

In the next two chain spaces, work two more single crochets.

Chain-Pattern Sequence:

Chain one, skip a chain space, then double crochet in the next chain space.

Chain one, yarn over twice, skip a chain, and treble crochet in the next chain.

Chain one, yarn over three times, skip a chain, and double treble crochet in the next chain.

Continue this pattern, alternating stitches (double treble, treble, double crochet) while chaining and skipping one chain space between each.

Finish the sequence by working single crochets in each of the last three chain spaces.

Repeat the entire sequence from the beginning of the Pattern Repeat section until you reach the end of the row.

2nd Row

Start by chaining one and turning your work.

Work a single crochet into the first stitch.

Pattern Repeat:

Continue single crocheting in each chain space across the row.

Chain six (this counts as the first double treble crochet and one chain space).

Continue with double treble crochet as follows: yarn over three times, skip one chain space, and double treble crochet into the next chain.

Follow by chaining one, skipping a chain space, and working a treble crochet into the next space.

Chain one again, skip one chain space, and work a double crochet into the next chain space.

End the row by repeating from the start of this section, concluding with single crochets in the last three chain spaces.

Repeat Pattern

Repeat the 1st and 2nd rows alternately to achieve the desired length or size of your project.

Finishing

Work a chain one, skip a chain space, and single crochet into the next chain space.

Insert two additional single crochets into the next two chain spaces.

Chain one and turn your work.

Single crochet in each chain space until the end of the row.

Complete the project by inserting a single crochet in the fifth chain from the end of the last row.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends to finish your project neatly.
